THE PETROLEUM UST
RELEASE COMPENSATION BOARD
The Board consists of nine members appointed by the
Governor with the advice and consent of the Ohio Senate, and three
ex-officio members. By law, five of the nine members appointed by the
Governor must have a relationship with the petroleum industry as UST
owners, and representative of refiners, marketers, and retail dealers. The
remaining four appointees must bring experience in environmental
engineering, local government, and casualty or pollution liability
insurance. The State Treasurer and the directors of the Department of
Commerce and the Ohio Environmental Protection Agency serve as ex-officio
members. The Board convenes meetings in Westerville throughout the year,
which are open to the public. During these meetings, the Board provides
financial management, establishes annual tank fees and deductibles,
reviews its rules, establishes program policies, considers appeals, and
reviews Linked Deposit and Hardship applications.
The Board employs a full time staff to implement and
administer its programs. For additional information describing the Board
