THE PETROLEUM UST RELEASE
COMPENSATION BOARD

The Board consists of nine members appointed by the Governor with the advice and consent of the Ohio Senate, and three ex-officio members. By law, five of the nine members appointed by the Governor must have a relationship with the petroleum industry as UST owners, and representative of refiners, marketers, and retail dealers. The remaining four appointees must bring experience in environmental engineering, local government, and casualty or pollution liability insurance. The State Treasurer and the directors of the Department of Commerce and the Ohio Environmental Protection Agency serve as ex-officio members. The Board convenes meetings in Westerville throughout the year, which are open to the public. During these meetings, the Board provides financial management, establishes annual tank fees and deductibles, reviews its rules, establishes program policies, considers appeals, and reviews Linked Deposit and Hardship applications.

The Board employs a full time staff to implement and administer its programs. For additional information describing the Board and its authority refer to Ohio Revised Code 3737.90.
